A Portrait

The graphic I'm going to show you here is a page for a magazine that was never published (at least I think so...) and it's a portrait inspired by a Tyra Bank's photo.

The hair I've used here is a mix of two stardoll hairstyles (the top is a level hairstyle and the rest is a superstar-only one). I don't like the shading though, it looks more like a drawing than a graphic. The parts I do like however, is the shading to the neck and arms, as well as the pose. I did not shade the model's face at all because I was told so but the stardesign hair pieces do the work just fine.
All in all I believe it's a quite strong portrait, but for some reason I feel that a black and white version would be even better.

What's your opinion?

About The Header

I just flt like doing some self-assessment for my latest graphic; the one on the blog's header. So first of all, let me show it once again:

From the moment it was finished, it immediately entered my "best of" list, I really liked it.
However, I can still spot various imperfections I could have fixed.

To begin with, the right side of the shirt looks kinda weird, although it was fine on full-size. In addition, the shading of the hair is not that nice and I knew it even while making it. I can say I was experimenting a little, because I used two different shading styles at once and the outcome is sort of messy. Finally, I could have done a better job selecting the pleathers, as part of the background can still be seen.

But enough with the drawbacks, let's analyze the good parts of it.
I like the legs' posing, I find it very realistic cause it's something I do a lot. I'm also very proud about the shirt I created, it's the first time I'm making something semi-transparent and although it's not perfect, I love it. The jewelry is also a nice addition to the outfit and they give it more personality. I also adore the typography and text effects in this graphic and I believe they work perfectly with the downtown background.

I think I've said enough about it. I'd like to hear some more opinions however so comments are really appreciated.

Graphics For Blogs

During the last few months I only made some graphics for one of the most popular Greek stardoll blogs, stardollellada.blogspot.com, and worked for an un-published magazine. In this post I'm going to show you the header graphics for the blog I mentioned above.

This particular graphic was made in Fall '12 and is one of my favorites. I really love the trench coat I made and the feeling of the image as a whole. However there is a spot I didn't notice before finishing the graphic, which is still gross: the left girl's left hand.

This one is for the holiday season (Christmas - '13 New Year's Eve). I had some hard time making the background from day to might and I didn't pay that much attention to the clothes but th overall result is nice in my opinion. The shading is poor however.

Finally, for an inside comptition we had to design a small ad for the blog and this is what I came up with..and won. It was an extremely fast graphic and I have to admit that I was really lazy while making it: obviously there's almost no shading and the hair is so horrible. But I like it :P

So, that's all for now...
What's your opinion about them?

A Post To Start With

I'm not saying "hello" as nobody is following or even viewing this blog yet, although I hope this will change. With this being my third blog on blogger or fifth generally, I can say I'm experienced enough to know what's going on with blogging. And this is how I'm sure any possible visitor is here accidentally. So anyway, let's go on with the main point of this post.
Although I already have a tumblr blog for my graphics (link at the bottom of the page), certain functions there have forced me to create a new blog to post my work as an amateur graphic designer.
I do consider myself an artist, however I'm aware that the graphics I make are not perfect by any way. For this exact reason I really seek for advice and feedback through this site to help me improve. I will possibly make a page for graphic requests as well, but I'm not sure yet, as I will be really busy the following 2 years of my life with studies. In addition, I currently make graphics just for my own pleasure and whenever working on requests made me feel too tired or anxious, I usually gave up. That's why I don't want to overload myself with graphic requests, I hope I made this clear.

I'll be back soon with some previous work of mine.
